The latter is aninduction instrument in which a pulsating current is sent simul-taneously through a perfect field coil and the one to be tested.When the induction is unequal the circuits are out of balance, anda.telephone receiver is used to note the fact. The bond tester issimilar to previous forms, save that it is now arranged for oneman to manipulate the contacts on the rail as well as the instru-ment. This works on the Wheatstone bridge principle with thetelephone receiver and vibrator in place of galvanometer.
