reigndemand being accountable for the limited entry ofthe red, white, and roan in our great Christmasshows. The section for the breed commences with theclass for steers exceeding two and not exceedingthree years of age. Five competitors only werecatalogued, the winner turning up in GentlemanJohn, exhibited by that famous Yorkshire feeder,Mr. Peter Dunn, and bred by Mr. John Ross atMillcraig, Alness ; he was sired by that capitalgetter Ajax out of Lissie by Champion andat two years and about nine months, turns thescales at 16 cwt 1 qr. 27 lb . he also wins theShorthorn breed cup, and one or two higherhonours that will be referred to later on. Thoughrather of the small type in general appearanceand not a great eye filler at first sight, he standspicking to pieces well and is full of quality, heis well covered on the top and shoulders and hishindquarters are neat, whilst he stands on veryshort legs and is well filled along his border line.The seond prize steer is qii:e an extraordinary 4

Dexter Heifer Danesfleld Marjorle, winner of Special Prize for Best Beast in the Small Cattle Classes, and First Prize fora Small Cattle Heifer over 18 months and not above three years old, at the Norwich Pat Stock Show. Ered by Mr. J.Lee, Munro Lodge, Littlewlck, near Maidenhead, and exhibited by Mr. R. W. Hudson, Danesfleld. Great Marlow, Bucks.Its sire was Littlewlck Jem, dam La Mancha Marjorle; age 2 years 7 months 2 weeks 3 days; weight 8cwt. 3qr, 211b. This is a son of the great sire BeautysPride out of Rolleston Duchess; he was bred byhis owner, Sir Oswald Mosley, who now exhibitshim, he is well brought out, and is a steer of greatscale and full of good flesh as well as shapely,and handles firmly. He should prove a good onein the block, and, as he pulls up the beam at18 cwt. 1 qr. 22 lbs. at two years and nine monthsold, he has done remarkably well.
