Billy Sunday BILLY SUNDAY was converted abouttwenty-five years ago in the Pacific GardenMission, on Van Buren Street. Chicago. Hehad been out on a carouse with a number ofother members of the famous White Sox teamof baseball players of which Pop Anson wasmanager. It was a hot afternoon and the mensat on the edge of the pavement trying to de-cide how they were going to spend the rest ofthe day. Sunday heard them singing hynmsin the mission. He wanted to get out of thesun and rest for a while. So he left the othermen, went into the mission and fell asleep.When he awoke he foimd an elderly womanstanding by his side with her hand on hisshoulder. As he looked up she asked: Young man, do you know that God lovesyou? Sunday replied that he did not. The womanleft him, but the question started him thinking.Then he listened to the testimonies of the menwho had been converted and enabled to stopdrinking, which was his principal failing.
