Leaving the Convalescent Home, Colebrook Lodge, for a spin over the thousand acres of health and common just outside the door of the estate. The high thick hedges and cunningly-planted shrubbery are an excellent example of the intensive floriculture practiced so successfully in London's suburbs. The brilliant bush which lights up the dark masses of the hedge is goldern privet, while nearby is holly, the two-toned kind growing by the side of the familiar Christmas variety

Grog-y-nog, one of the most beautiful country estates in Wales, has been offered to the American Red Cross for use as a convalescent home for American soldiers by its owner, Major David Davies, a wealthy Welsh member of the House of Commons. "The house is offered", writes Major Davies, "as a small tribute for the noble efforts which your countryman are making to advance the cause of liberty and progress in the world. Dormitories of the convalescent home, La Chaux, recently opened in Lyon by the Children's Bureau of the ARC. As it stands now, this property with its beautiful park and chateau and outlying buildings will accomadate about 200 children. Barracks are to be built which will make room for 600 children. These are not children who are actually ill-they are under-nourished, delicate little ones who need country air and food, from Lyons and Paris
