Summary

Pieced in the Wild Goose Pattern. Brown and red roller printed cotton fabrics. Triangular, printed patches aligned vertically in 7 rows (29-30/row) against white ground. Pieced pattern bands 4" wide alternate with 6 separating strips (5-51/4" wide). Strips and surrounding border in brown and red striped print with feathering in stripes. Side borders 5 3/4" -6" wide, top 6 1/2", bottom 3" wide. Cotton batting. narrow brown and red striped backing fabric in four panels; 3 1/2-4 1/2" wide, 24" wide, 23" wide. Diagonal quilting in opposite directions in white thread spaced 5/8 to 3/4" apart in pieced bands. Self binding edge 1/4".; The components of this quilt are relatively simple. Three triangles are pieced together to form a rectangle (the geese), which are then stitched into long rows, and sewed to long pieces of striped fabric. Brown and red roller printed cotton fabrics comprise the quilt. The bands of pieced triangles and striped fabric vary from 4” wide to 5 ¼” wide. Diagonal quilting in brown thread is spaced 1” apart in the borders and separating strips. Diagonal quilting in the opposite direction in white thread spaced 5/8-3/4” apart in the pieced bands. The self binding edge is ¼” wide.
