Portrait of Thomas Knox, when Viscount Northland, dressed for a fancy-dress ball given by Queen Victoria at Buckingham Palace on 12 May 1842; whole length, standing and looking to left, his right knee bent and right hand on his hip; wearing plumed velvet cap, matching tunic with hanging sleeves, and sword; broad decorative border of scrolling foliage and flowers.
