Large plants of the La France roses, 50 cents each; the set for.... fl.50. La France. Perhaps no rose is better known or more hig-hly valued for g-eneral planting-, both in open ground or under g-lass, than La France. It is a Hybrid Tea, very beautiful in form and color; an early and constant bloomer, producing- a wonderful profusion of buds and flowers all through the growing- season; it is exceedingly sweet and handsome, and altogether one of the loveliest and most desirable roses one can plant. Both flowers and buds are of grand^size ; the color is a lovely shade of peach blossom^ changing to amber rose, elegantly tinged with crimson ; deli- cious tea fragrance ; exceedingly sweet, very full and wonderfully beautiful; commences to bloom soon after planting out, and continues until stopped by freezing weather. Moderately hardy, but re- quiring protection in winter. Price, 10 cents each. Striped La France. (Madame A. Veyset.) Imagine a lovely rose with shape and fragrance of La France, of a rich creamy pink, with a silvery gloss, growing deeper at base petals, the whole beauti- fully etched and streaked with delicate carmine. We find it the most attractive and showy Tea rose of re- cent introduction. Price, 15 cents eacfi. Duchess of Albany, (or Red La France). This is a superb new rose ; resembles La France, but is more vigorous in growth and much deeper in color, hence the name Red La France seems very appropriate. It is a continuous and very free bloomer, producing a great abundance of lovely buds and flowers all through the season. The flowers are extra large, very double and full, and remarkably fragrant; color brilliant rose pink, exquisitely shaded. It is highlj' recommended as one of the largest, sweetest and best roses for general planting, both in open ground and for greenhouse culture. It belongs to the Hybrid Tea class, but is usually placed with the Hybrid Per- petuals, because it resembles them in form and habit of growth, etc. It is reasonably hard3', but should have a good covering of leaves or straw be- fore severe weather. Price, 15 cents each. Augustine Guineoisseau, (or White La France). The best recommendation we can give of this magnificent rose is that it is a white La France, having just a breath of rose tinted blush delicately clouding the depths of its broad, luxu- rious petals. The flowers are extra large, very full and finely formed, and delicately perfumed. It blooms all through the season, and is a rose that every one will like to have. Price, 10 cents each.
