The race is one of the oldest and most prestigious motorsport events in the world, first held in 1923. The race is run continuously over 24 hours, with teams of drivers taking turns to race their cars around the circuit. The aim of the race is to cover the greatest distance in 24 hours, with the winner being the team that completes the most laps.
