Label Copy: "During the late 1840s there was an increased demand for figural triptychs, and a number of artists produced interesting works in this genre. This print features three women with kasa (Japanese umbrellas) caught in a torrential summer downpour. Kuniyoshi here emphasizes the relentless power of the downpour through his almost abstract depiction of the driving rain."
