nomenclature ofCoushiching is especially ap-propriate and descriptive;here the varying breezes, wel-come adjuncts of a summerresort, that fan the surface ofthe lake, have given the In-dian name for Lake ofMany Winds. A pleasantplace is Couchiching Park,situated on the point of a nar-row promontory projecting amile and a half northwardinto the lake, and surroundedon three sides by water; thus,come from whatever quarterit may, every breeze has play,while the lake on the one sideor the other, being protectedby the point from wind andwave, pleasure boating is safe,and calm waters can at alltimes be enjoyed. Strawberry Island, tenmiles from Orillia, on LakeSimcoe, is well deserving of avisit. There is here a capitalhotel and fine summer cot-tages. This resort is ownedby Capt. Chas. Mclnnes, whohas a first-class steamer, bymeans of which connection iskept up daily between theIsland and Orillia. At Rama,on this lake, is the reserva-tion of the last remnants of the Ojibbeways.
