Letter from George Thompson, London, [England], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1864 [January 1]

description

Summary

George Thompson writes to William Lloyd Garrison sending him his wishes for "health, peace, prosperity & happiness" in the new year. Thompson comments on his reading about the 30th anniversary of the American Anti-Slavery Society in the Anti-Slavery Standard and says he deems his "loss very great in being absent" as he had been an agent since 1834 and a "representative & servant of the American Anti-Slavery Society & have .. never wavered in my allegiance to it." He then discusses his plans to travel to Boston and shares news of his family, telling Garrison, "your name is a house-hold word amongst us & every member of our tribe is taught to venerate & bless W.L. Garrison."
