Summary
Kini Kapahu, (right) and her colleague (either Pauahi Pinao or Pauahi Kamokei) played music and danced the hula at the Midway Plaisance at the World’s Columbian Exhibition, Chicago, in 1893. They chose to wear flowers and grass skirts to play into stereotypes of Hawaiian identity.
