This accuratesuggestion across one part of the flesh will lead the painterto vary, as required, in other portions, using Pompadour ex-tra where needed and a delicate Violet Blue on the foreheadand nose. A bluish tone could well be maintained on thecheek near the nose, which in a subsequent painting couldbe washed with ochre to give a greenish color, this tingebeing a tinted reflection of background and lilies. It is wise to wash the flesh planes over evenly with anopen oil.
