J. S. Perry four gallon grey stoneware jar - fe58d9d8e24ed4c14f713100dbef57ad

4 gal grey salt-glazed stoneware jar w/ brown albany slip interior & applied crescent shaped lug handles. Ovoid shaped form tapers to a 8 3/8" dia base. Shoulders gradually curve in at neck w/ rolled rim. Rim unglazed w/ yellowish remnants on exterior. Jar slants w/ left side high& righ side low. Two brown stacking scars w/ dents beneath right handle 3" from base. Stamped on shoulder "4" "J.S. PERRY" w/ decorative border around name of which only stamped is bot & left side. Overall clay body has pit marks & scattered black fills from escape of lime & iron particles. Unglazed bot.
