Written on reverse: .The hill at Esperance was 250 ft high, and with the 160 ft pole, made the highest point 410 ft high..The mast was made of 15 inch Oregon, 3 inches thick and cut so that no two joints came together..It was raised into position by means of a Jury mast, half the length of the main mast, and as the Jury went down, so the big stick was raised..You will see this exactly in the large photo..This station connects Perth and Adelaide and we have even spoken to Geraldton from here..Geraldton mast is 180 ft high, 30 tons...Newspaper article about the event: trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/33588897?searchTerm=stat...
