ith a blueglaze and decorated in relief with bands of disk-shapes and semi-rosettes. Below the handles are raised palm branch ornamen-tations. (Illustrated) No. 132RAKKA FAIENCE INKSTAND (Ninth Century) Height, 8 inches Rectangular shape, on four cylindrical feet. Invested with arich greenish glaze. The top is pierced with two circular open-ings surrounded by a panel of Saracenic interlacements in relief;the sides are patterned with Arabic inscriptions in relief andscrollings, while the ends are decorated with pointed-arch pan-els of ornamentation in relief. Largely covered with silvery andgolden iridescence. (Illustrated) Note: This inkstand is said to have been exhumed from among the ruinsof the palace of Harown-al-Raschid, whose favorite place of abode was theCity of Rakka. No. 133GRJECO-ROMAN FAIENCE VASE (First Century B.C.) Height, \i inchet Pear-shaped vertically ribbed body, cylindrical neck and two flat Looped handle8. Invested with crackled greenish-blue glaze.
