Insterburg, Germany (now Chernyakhovsk, Russia) was a small town located in the district of Königsberg in the East Prussian region of Germany. It has a population of about 12,000 people and is known for its historical buildings, including the Insterburg Castle, which dates back to the 14th century. Modern Chernyakhovsk is a city located in the Kaliningrad Oblast region of Russia. It is the administrative center of the Chernyakhovsky District and has a population of about 87,000 people. Chernyakhovsk was named after the Russian general Ivan Chernyakhovsky, who was born in the city.
