Kōgyo Tsukioka, sometimes called Kōgyo Sakamaki, was a Japanese artist of the Meiji period born in 1869, under the real name of Hanyu Sadanosuke in Tokyo. When he was fifteen years old, his mother married Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, the famous ukiyo-e printmaker. Inspired by his famous stepfather he made his first prints. Later he became the student of another famous artist of the Meiji period, Ogata Gekko, and was heavily influenced by him.
