March 16, 1907 ELECTRIC RAILWAY REVIEW 357 The new line proper begins at Goffs Falls, a southernsuburb of Manchester, and in a general way follows the eastbank of the Merrimack river through level farming landsthrough Litchfield to Hudson, which is on the east side ofthe Merrimack opposite Nashua. The roadbed is all singletrack on the private right of way, but turnouts one mile long the trolley being grooved, size No. 00 B. and S. gauge. Butone trolley was installed. With the exception of one-half milenorth of Hudson the entire line is fed with 600-volt directcurrent by a 500,000-circular mil copper feeder which paral-lels the trolley. Manchester-Nashua Street Railway—Standard Passenger Car. are shortly to be in service. The rails were laid in 33-footlengths, T-section, each joint being bonded with the No.0000 soldered bond of the Lord Electric Company. Chestnutties of standard steam railroad specification were used, spaced2 feet apart on centers. Gravel ballast was used throughout,and the right of way is about 50 feet in width. There arefour grade crossings with highways, and five steel trestles tion, Light & Power Company to a substation located inLitchfield, just half way from each end of the private rightof way. The 500,000 circular mil feeder is divided into twosections at the Litchfield substation, one section feeding northand the other south.
