Summary
The two half-figures are shown as standing behind the balustrade of a loggia. A canopy with the coat-of-arms of the Stuarts from the background. On top of a sepulchral chamber shown before the balustrade are: a young man in the attire of Hercules seated beside a cinerary receptacle upon which the insignia of a bishop and a helmet and sword lie on a cushion. The architectural setting is that of a lateral chapel in a church with framing lines.
