Diametrical needle meas-urement may mean any one of three things; from the outside of thehook of the needle on one side to the outside of the hook of the needleon the other side; from the center of the needle on one side to thecenter of the needle on the other side; and from inside of the needleon one side to inside of the needle on the other. Cam-surface measurement has been adopted by many knittingmachine builders. This measurement is taken from the outsidediameter of the cam surface of the needle cylinder and not from theneedles; that is to say, the cylinder for a 10-inch machine will measure 91 78 KNITTING
