The Legislature, besides con-tinuing to grant £5,000 voted last year, have further sanctioneda small payment being made to the adjutants of the differentmilitia regiments; they have also voted £1,000 for the erec-tion of an armoury in the city of Halifax, and the payment outof the provincial treasury of one-third of the cost of the erec-tion of drill rooms whenever the remaining two-thirds areraised by local contributions. That the residents themselveshave shown an eager readiness to qualify for their militia du-ties, and that a very large proportion of the officers have al-ready attended or are at present attending drill.
