Christian Hauge House, 2349 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest, Washington, District of Columbia, DC
Summary
Significance: This detached limestone residence, in the early 16th century French manner, is important for three reasons: its prime location, its commanding scale in relation to the adjacent avenue and its exuberant style. The building occupies a site bordered by two streets and an avenue. Its dominant scale is created by the structure's volume and height, and the prominent round tower on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and 24th Street. Is picturesque Gothic detail has a vitality which is lacking in the less dramatic structures nearby.
