The Swedish or Ling System is followed, and aUymnastics large gymnasium in Academic Hall has been fittedup with Swedish apparatus.The gymnasium drill includes floor work,exercises on apparatusand gymnastic games. The floor work embraces all the fundamental positions of the body, bending, twisting, jumping, runningmarching, etc, special stress being laid upon breathing exercisesand the position of the chest. The apparatus comprises stall bars and benches, straight andslanting ropes, double boom, jumping standards, and balance beams.It is the purpose of the gymnastic games to train in swiftnessand exactness both mind and body, and at the same time to afforda pleasant relaxation from the military discipline in the other partot the drill.
