Owing to the frontvestibule floor being on the same planeas the car floor, it was found necessary All steps in and out of the car are equip-ped with lead filled safety tread, reduc-ing to a minimum accidents due topassengers slipping on the steps. Therear entrance and exit doors are operat-ed by the conductor; the same mechanismand similar features as applied to frontdoor being used. The entrance to thecar is the last door on the rear, therebygiving ample standing room for passen-gers, while the conductor is makingchange or issuing transfers. The destination signs are placed inthree locations. There are 47 route nameson each, and they are located as follows:One one the right side of the front ves-tibule in gothic sash, and one on eachside in the last gothic sash on the car

Winnipsg Electric Railway Low Floor Cars.The upper illustration shows one of 20 cars bought from Twin City Traction Co. The lower illustration shows the same car, after rehabilitation in the Winnipeg Electric Ey. shops. they appeared in the Winnipeg Ry. Co.sshops before rehabilitation. The fea-tures embodied in these cars adaptedthemselves to the companys rolling stockstandards. In the process of rehabilitation, thecars were first stripped of their rearvestibules and interior fittings, front andrear bulkheads; all to be replaced by thefeatures which make up the companysstandard, single end, double truck, p.a.y.e.low floor car, with front and rear exitand rear entrance. In order to incorpor-ate these features it was found neces-sary to lengthen the rear vestibule 30in. This was accomplished by placingon each side of the car one V2 x 5 x 5 in.angle iron vestibule knee 8% in. from to drop a pit, the size of the front pas-senger vestibule, in order to have theone step from the vestibule f
