Cable ferry across the Snohomish River, ca 1892 (MOHAI 6968)
Summary
Northbound travelers to Snohomish, Washington often took the cable ferry which ran across the Snohomish River. The ferry was a small barge which carried passengers or wagons. The ferry operator pulled the ferry back and forth across the water by means of a cable strung between the riverbanks.
This photo, taken by Anders Wilse in 1892 or 1893, shows the Snohomish River cable ferry at Snohomish.
