Africa Center director learns about anti-Marshall Plan propaganda during visit
Summary
John Crawford, librarian at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, showcases anti-Marshall Plan propaganda to Kate Knopf, director of the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, during her visit here Sept. 9. The propaganda tried to prevent support of the Marshall Plan and was published in the former Soviet Union during the late 1940s and '50s. The Marshall Plan was an American initiative to aid Europe, in which the Unites States provided economic support to help rebuild European economies after the end World War II in order to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism. ACSS and GCMC are two of the five regional centers that build partner capacity by addressing regional and global security issues with strategic level military and civilian leaders through courses, seminars, workshops, research and dynamic outreach in an educational environment.
