It would appear, that the natives of India confider it as anefficacious remedy in fevers, and its fenfible qualities promifevirtues limilar to thofe of other fimples now in ufe among usIn fuch cafes. Befides a ftfong aromatic flavour^ it polTefles apungency to the tafte little inferior to xhtferpentaria^ and muchmore confidefable than the contrayerva. It is mentioned in aw^ork attributed to Galen^ that a medicine, compofed of thisand fome other aromatics, was found ufefulin long protraftedfevers, which are the cafes in which medicines of this clafsare employed in modern practice.
